Spring Time
It’s officially spring! As we say goodbye to winter for another year, there are some important items for tenants to check as the weather warms up.
Retic
Retic systems can be turned on again from September 1st 2024. It is important that retic is switched on, programmed correctly, and set to the correct watering days. Remember, you must only use the retic before 9am and after 6pm on your rostered days. If you are unsure of your watering days, please visit the link provided below: https://www.watercorporation.com.au/Waterwise/Watering-days/Check-your-watering-days
If you have not done so already, it’s time to go and check your retic and ensure all of the stations are working correctly. It is important to walk around the garden and actually visually look at the sprinklers and risers for each station, as this will help you spot a leak or a faulty sprinkler. If you do notice any leaks to retic piping, damage to sprinklers, or sections of retic not working, it is important you raise this with your Property Manager promptly. Should repairs need to be undertaken, please bear in mind you will need to water manually to keep the garden healthy in the meantime.
Spring cleaning and garden maintenance
It is the perfect time for spring cleaning the home inside and out! We have included a handy list of things you may like to do around your home this spring!
Internal:
- Declutter unused items and donate them to charity or utilize verge/rubbish collections.
- Attend to often forgotten cleaning items such as window tracks, exhaust fans, window glass, ovens, range hoods, ceiling fans, and blinds!
- Clean filters for appliances around the home – air-conditioning, dryer and dishwasher!
External:
- Check pest activity and act accordingly. This includes putting down pellets if you have snails and pests on garden plants, preventing ant activity by using insecticides, and removing cobwebs and spiders.
- Removing weeds from pathways, garden beds and lawns.
- Mowing lawns and applying weed and feed as required.
- Pruning roses, trimming plants and hedges, applying fertilizers and removing dead leaves from the garden.
Air-conditioning
Airconditioning also will become front of mind as the weather warms up! It is a great idea to get in early and test your system prior to the first hot day, to identify any issues with your air conditioning system prior to the busiest time of the year for air conditioning contractors.
The most important task that will ensure the efficiency of your air-conditioner is to routinely clean its filters. Dirty filters reduce the airflow and significantly reduce the system’s efficiency. Cleaning your filters is easy. Simply pop open the plastic cover and remove the filter or multiple filters. Take them outside and use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove the dust. If the filters are extremely dirty, give them a wash with warm water and detergent. Completely dry them before putting them back inside the air-conditioner.
